How to Make Emmental Video Tutorial

10/06/2013 By Gavin Webber 8 Comments

After much ado, I finally finished my next production, an Emmental video tutorial.

emmental

The recipe is available in my cheese making eBook “Keep Calm & Make Cheese“, however if you watch the tutorial very carefully, you should be able to make out all the ingredients and steps.

There are also a little more information at my previous Emmental posts.

This is a great intermediate cheese to try.  You will need Propionic Shermanii to create the eyes within the cheese and a few other ingredients, but it is well worth the time taken to create this cheese.  Enjoy the Emmental video tutorial!

Hi Kurt, it is made by Decor Australia but is a combination of two separate products. The little mat is from a smaller microwave rice cooker and the larger red bowl is from another 2.7L rice cooker. Any plastic tub will do. Just sprinkle a layer of salt on the exposed side of the cheese and after you turn the cheese halfway through brining, repeat the salting.

Thanks for posting Gavin. Your videos really help to break the process down into very manageable steps. I also am enjoying your book and plan to start making some cheese shortly.
    Much appreciated.

Hi Gavin, due to data limitations, I can't watch long YouTube videos and it appears that your 'previous Emmentaler posts' link doesn't work. It's just taking me around in circles back to the 10th June post.

I have been learning to make cheese for the past year. Gavin's podcast and video series has been a tremendous resource for me. His love for the cheese-making craft is evident in the amount of research he will perform in order to answer a listener's cheese question. All thumbs up for the amount of time and energy he puts into his quality podcast! ...And he cracks me up with his attempts at pronunciation!
